About
Academic depth and personal growth belong together.
The Summer School Bootcamp is an independent, internationally oriented educational program founded by Bibiana Ortner. It combines academic excellence, rigorous problem-solving, personal development, teamwork, and responsibility-driven leadership.
The name is the point
This is a bootcamp — not a relaxed summer course. The schedule is full-time and deliberately intensive, designed to give a realistic sense of what studying at NUST actually demands. And the degree itself will demand considerably more than the bootcamp does.
What students actually take away
The Bootcamp is designed for highly motivated students. It supports them in learning to:
- —build real skills in mathematics, formal methods, Rust, and AI before their studies begin
- —strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication
- —clearly explain and justify their reasoning
- —take responsibility within teams
- —work constructively with mistakes and feedback
- —exercise leadership appropriate to the situation
- —build confidence and a supportive community before the first semester starts

Understanding of leadership
In the Bootcamp, leadership is understood as responsible action. Students learn to take initiative, to listen, to justify decisions transparently, to take on responsibility appropriate to the situation, to support others in learning, and to put their own abilities in service of a shared goal.

Understanding of excellence
In the Bootcamp, excellence means combining academic depth, continuous learning ability, self-responsibility, cooperation, integrity, reflective capacity, and social contribution.
Who the Bootcamp is for
We look for students with the greatest potential to become multipliers — people who put their knowledge and character in service of their society. What that looks like later doesn't matter: as an entrepreneur, in research, at home, or elsewhere.
- —Enjoyment of real collaboration rather than going it alone
- —Willingness to pass on what they've learned and help others grow
- —A genuine interest in others' wellbeing
- —Modesty about their own achievements
- —Openness to feedback
- —A wish to contribute to their community for the long run
- —Enjoyment of demanding tasks
Who this is deliberately not for
Just as openly as we say who the Bootcamp is for, we'll say who it isn't:
- —Anyone who needs a longer break during the program — for a wedding or a vacation, for example
- —Anyone who just wants to dip a toe in without committing
- —Anyone signing up only because their parents want them to, without being behind it themselves
- —Anyone who needs constant outside motivation to keep going
- —Anyone not yet ready to genuinely commit to change
Stay, and you get something concrete in return: the ability to see any challenge as a solvable task — not a problem.
More voices from the program
“The personal development sessions were the real turning point. I felt mentally clearer before starting university, understood how I learn, and could manage stress far better.”
Mechanical Engineering, SMME NUST
“I learned how to use the LMS, handle assignment stress, and manage my time. Bibiana and Sandra also gave us a lot of guidance on building a CV and a LinkedIn profile.”
Participant, NUST Summer School
“It built my confidence in interacting with others and introduced me to programming concepts that are now core to my degree.”
